The last day: Chapter 2: Made of Stone.

By now, Ethan wouldn't be surprised to expect the worst. But being on the crosshairs of some pseudo-federals, it hadn't crossed his mind. From his point of view, he only had two choices regarding his future. He dies or he will live life as the most wanted criminal. Neither of them options seemed too pleasant but apparently his sister had some sort of plan. He wasn't aware of the details but it involved her former sleeping partner to help him out of the city. At the moment he  plastered himself to a tree in the park, Anto's body pressing against his. The man was twice the size of Ethan, and his huge muscles didn't lie about his powerful strength. His breathing alone hurt Ethan. He did not now how it was helping but he felt a layer of protection. Perhaps Anto knew how to blend in with the shadows..
But there is like no shadow here.
Maybe he looked like he was making out with his girlfriend.
I can totally pass as a girl. Oh Jesus. What sort of thoughts are creeping into my head?.
Whatever it was, it seemed to have worked. The "feds" couldn't lose their anonymity because people complain. And if people complain their little organization could have been jeopardized. So as hard to believe it was, they passed off as important men taking a walk. But it started to worry some people and one by
one, families left the playground in a rush. Ethan thought it was perfect time to leave, mix in with the crowd, and as he wiggled out of Anto's grasp. But hee suddenly felt winded. He was pushed back against the tree.
"Listen boy." Anto whispered through gritted teeth. "We do things my way. If we are to leave safely you don't do things with out my approval okay?." Ethan nodded.
The suited men were searching through the playground. Anto and Ethan could escape swiftly, but there was a problem. A suited man within a 10 metre range. If he alerted his friends, it would all come to an end, the escape route was too long to go without being noticed.
"I will paralyze him." Anto said hurriedly. "As soon as I do, you make a run for it."
Ethan nodded once more, the fear flickering in his eyes.
Anto's heart rushed as he crept up behind the suited man. No one was looking and it was his opportunity. He slipped the knife out of his pocket and drove it through the man's neck. A spray of blood soaked Anto with warm, metallic liquid. He threw the man into long grass and made a run for it, he almost instantly outran the tired Ethan, who's face seemed disapproving. His lip quivered and his eyes opened and shut furiously.
"You killed- Not paralyzed- .. You killed-" He choked out.
Wouldn't be the first person I killed.
Anto thought.

-

Madeleine prepared herself for that night in her least favourite room of the mansion she stayed in. She wore a skimpy, exposing red dress, easy to strip when it came to it. Cosmetics were slapped onto her face, her hair was soft and puffed due to recent blow drying. Her reflection in the mirror screamed "Cheap whore."
Elegant whore.
She reassured herself. But no amount of pep talk could justify what she was about to do. A bottle of expensive red wine lay on the end table alongside two wineglasses. Madeleine popped the cork, a stream of red sweetness gushed into the glass. Her drink amount exceeded the other glass.
I need more, this night needs as much padding as possible.
Despite her confidence, her body shivered and her stomach churned. Her plan had two faces to the coin. It either worked or didn't.
"He's here." Bert entered unannounced.
"Let him in." Madeleine stood up and patted her self down. She would feel extremely stupid and angry the next day.
But I got to do this. For Ethan, and myself.
A porky man entered the room. His eyes gazed around the ancient interior, and lastly, his gaze fell upon Madeleine. He licked his lips and the most nastiest smirks plastered his mouth. Madeleine almost threw up, but reconsidered that she had slept with worse.
She swallowed her disgust and passed him the glass wine.
"Hello." She purred in a flirty manner.
"Hello my dear. The name is Ian Gantry." He said in a deep voice.
"I know." Madeleine smiled.
"To what do I owe the honour?" He asked.
"You know what."
"Really?" His tone sharpened, his expression showed distaste. "Remind me."
Madeleine kissed him. Ian was impressed, he identified all her assets, there were too many though. He stroked her back as he slid his tongue into her mouth. Later they were undressed and in bed, making loveless love. Madeleine fooled him, like she did to countless other men. It was so simple, it even humoured her.

-

Ethan's stomach did back-flips. The taste of vomit lingered in his mouth.
What the hell did Anto do?
While walking through a maze of trees in the forest, neither boy said a word since they had left. Ethan was horrified, yet Anto remained expressionless. As if no emotion could penetrate his stone hard body.
Ethan found it a chore to trudge through the muddy ground, his feet ached from the cold, wetness and effort.
"We'll be at my pal's soon. He can get us some help." Anto informed Ethan, who shrugged.
"Whatever." He rolled his eyes.
Anto stopped without warning, and faced Ethan. He rubbed his rugged face and spat on the ground.
"You got something to say to me?" Anto shouted as he circled Ethan.
"You killed a man. You didn't even- you lied to me!" The boy couldn't find the right words.
"It was either him or you. Don't feel compassion for these guys, they are out there to kill you. I'm not proud of what I did, but I did it because my duty now is to protect you! Now move the fuck along!"
"How exactly are you certain that they're out there to kill me? Maybe they are the feds!" Ethan could feel the confidence build up in him. Anger spilled out of him in bursts like a geyser full of steam.
"Fuck this. I just know okay. Less you know the better!"
"No, tell yourself all that shit. I don't know who you are, what you do, why you're doing this and how you know about stuff! What the hell are you? And why are you bothered helping me you asshole?!"
Anto pushed Ethan away so hard that he fell over on his back.
"I didn't ask for this." Anto whimpered angrily. "I'm not doing this for you. I'm doing this because I owe your sister big time. Now shut the fuck up, grow a pair and get up. I'm already sick of you but I can't let you loose. Hell I even would kill you if it wasn't for your sister. Swallow the bullshit, the less you know the better!"
With that, he stomped off leaving Ethan stunned. He liked this man less and less every second that had passed. He hoped his journey with him would be brief.

-

Light seeped into the room through the crack in the curtains, Ian clumsily crawled out of his bed after checking on Madeleine. She looked so peaceful and beautiful. His bare feet hit the cold tiling causing him to shudder. Quietly he gathered all his clothes that were strewn on furniture in the room. Once dressed, the phone on the end table buzzed. Glancing at the screen, he smiled. Just the person he wanted to talk to.
"Hi, how are you? Actually I don't care. How'd your business deal go last night?" A man on the other end of the phone said.
"I think," he looked at Madeleine in awe. "She's pretty legit. Get the files sent to her right away."
"You didn't sleep with her did you?" The man chuckled.
"I don't sleep with clients, that's some accusation Stu! I'm on my way to the airport now." He lied.
"Okay, sending the files now. Will I send it to her house?"
"No, she's staying with her family, I'll text you the address."
Ian hung up, thumbed in a text and sent it off. He smirked, ready for round two of Madeleine but before he could turn around there was a loud popping noise. Ian fell down to the ground. Dead. Madeleine held up the gun and watched Ian's lifeless body on the ground. Bert, her accomplice ran in.
"Get rid of him." She demanded.
